About the Author:

      John Clark is a third generation Minister and Missionary who lives in Arizona with Astrid, his wife of more than thirty years.  The Clarks' have three children in College at NAU and the University of Dresden, E. Germany.
      After six years as a Chaplain and ten years as a Pastor, John Clark has spent a great deal of time in hospitals. 
      For six years Chaplain Clark was the full time police counselor for the Navajo Police.  He was trained in suicide prevention and emergency medical response so he could offer both emergency medical assistance and counseling to accident, fire, domestic dispute and disaster victims.
      At the request of the Navajo Nation, Chaplain
Clark was also appointed by the National Red Cross
as General Consultant to the Navajo Tribe with sole
responsibility for disaster assistance over their vast
reservation which is the size of Arkansas. 
     Chaplain Clark established 
a Crisis Intervention Home,
distributed firewood, and
established the first Food and Clothing Bank on the Navajo
Reservation.
      For his service he has received a number of Citations and Awards from both the Navajo Nation and the Exceptional Volunteer American Red Cross.
      Chaplain Clark participated in the first National Park Service sanctioned raft trip in the Grand Canyon for people facing life threatening illness and physical disabilities.  Over that sixteen day trip he was impressed by the power of goals to bring renewed joy and zest to lives disrupted by illness and disability.  He stresses getting on with new goals after any life altering event.
      For more than ten years Chaplain Clark
taught Crisis Intervention and Stress
Management to police officers across the
United States.  He was hired by P.M.A.
Communications, W. Clement Stone to
spend all his time for two years taking
his positive message to Police
Departments and Community
Centers across the country.
